I want to share some teacher marketing strategies so you can get back to what matters most this holiday season. The holidays are often our busiest time of the year in life so I wanted to give you 10 quick teacher marketing strategies that you can take and run with over the next few weeks to see real results.
You can easily set your Teachers Pay Teachers store to 20% off during the holidays to reward your friends and buyers with some extra change in their pockets. Remember, teachers are in a buying mood so don’t be afraid to sell to them! Another more important way to throw a sale would be to send your email list on Black Friday or Cyber Monday!
People are always opening up emails in their inbox on these important days and this is a great way to reward them. If you need help on starting your email list which we consider the best marketing for teachers of all time, I’ve got a lot of previous podcast episodes to help you get started. One of my favorites is Episode 134 on how to write your first email marketing campaign to teachers.
In all of your content, you should be spending 80% of your time giving your customers free ideas, tips, tutorials, and help. And 20% of your time and posts can be selling your products. I know that sounds like a lot of free stuff, but hear me out. What you put out into the world, it will pay you back ten fold.
Let me say that again…. People stick around for the value that you keep giving and once you do decide to ask for a sale in return, they will buy from you again and again. For example, I recently just started a Tiktok! Are you following me there yet? My name is just @kaysemorris and I’m giving away some free strategies.
Well Tik Tok is notorious for showing people from all over the world your content on their “for you page” and some of our posts have reached thousands of people really quick. So, that means new faces are seeing what I have to offer. Some of them are not quite so sure about me and think I must be lying. Heck, I get it. There’s so much stuff out there online that isn’t true. It's hard to tell what is anymore. But I can give them my website and put the ball back in their court and ask them to do a little research on me because I’m not selling anything right now, I just want to help. That in turn usually gets them on my email list and it’s amazing that a lot of value can eventually lead to a customer.
To help teachers this time of year and put your teacher marketing strategies to use and sell your products. REMEMBER stick with the 80/20 rule even with blog posts. Bonus points if you write it while your store is on sale and give away a lot of content on how to utilize that product in their classroom. I always tell my students you want to make sure you give them the HOW in your blog posts but not the WHAT. Here’s what I mean by that:
Let’s say that you have an elf scavenger hunt activity – you could write an entire blog post on how to set your classroom up for an elf scavenger hunt. You can give 5 ways to hide the clues, fun snacks to buy, give a suggestion for how to incorporate the activity into a read aloud and more. What you did there was give them the “how”. You showed them exactly how to perform each and every step of the equation while also giving them 80% of the stuff. But what you didn’t do is provide them with the what. The “what” is your activity that is for sale. That’s the 20% that you charge for.
As much as it makes my skin crawl., I can honestly say that creating a YouTube channel back in 2015 was one of the best teacher marketing strategies for our company. Most of our students will still tell you that they found me on YouTube.
Here’s a quick tip to get started today.
Video Marketing: repurpose your blog posts and go live on Facebook or Instagram or create YouTube Videos. You are repurposing that same content in longer video form. We are all about working smarter not harder here at The CEO Teacher® so we repurpose our content in 10 different ways. One of those ways is by using something we worked hard on like creating a blog post. Then we record a video of it to share on Instagram, Facebook and even YouTube. What we love about YouTube is you can add that video to your blog posts once it's complete to get crazy good SEO results. Search engines love when you add videos to content.
What we’ve noticed lately is pretty darn cool, people come to Facebook to check in on friends, family, and groups or communities – they go to Instagram for the same reasons. But they also branch out and follow a lot of strangers for tips and tricks. Well people come to TikTok to learn and are super eager to buy or get what you have for free. So this is the perfect way to get them on your email list, feature your products, and put those teacher marketing strategies to use.
We love Canva and use Canva to create templates for marketing images to share on socials. Notice I didn’t say we create our products to sell from Canva. I’ll let you read the Canva terms of use for yourself, but we do not teach our students to use Canva for their business unless it's for marketing and promotional items. The main thing we love about Canva is that we use it for templates. We create templates for everything! Pinterest, podcast, blog, socials, and more.
That way we ever we need a quick image – we have one to grab without having to start from scratch. If you’re inside of The CEO Teacher® Academy, we will be releasing a brand new class called Teachersystems in the coming weeks that will show you how we use company identifiers to label all of our templates to make things smooth and easy to find.
Teacher marketing strategies include staying organized and streamlined. Make a folder in your Google Drive and/or computer where you store all of the content you used this year for your holiday marketing. That way you can reuse the images and content next year. Talk about saving time! This is the best way to make sure you can reuse content year after year without worrying if you forgot to download it off your old MacBook that died. Been there, done that! Upload everything from this holiday season that you are using onto Google Drive — yesterday!
Highlight a bundle or product line and send it to your email list. IF you’re a student inside of The CEO Teacher® school you have access to our best selling email sales funnel to sell a quick product that allows you to make sales on auto-pilot. IF you aren’t a student, it won’t be as simple as copy and paste. But we encourage you to create a 5 sequence email sales funnel that will help your products sell on autopilot. Not just for the holiday season but for years to come.
We love quick ways to expand our reach and believe in collaborating as much as possible. Teacher marketing strategies include collaborating with other CEO Teachers® to create an event or expand each other’s reach on social media! Partner up on a reel, do an IG stories takeover, remix a TikTok, etc. There is power in the community!
Ask yourself: how can I stand out? There’s a lot of noise this time of year, so what makes you unique and different? How can you use your platform for good? One thing we love to do is fund a lot of Donor’s Choose products on Giving Tuesday. That happens the day after Cyber Monday. We go on Donors Choose and have teachers submit their links to use on social media and completely clear their projects. It’s rewarding, uplifting and a feel-good feeling! Encouraging everyone to remember this season is about giving and also reminding you that whatever good you put out into the world, you will receive back times a million.
Intentional planning and putting your teacher marketing strategies to use for a successful holiday season is the key to success. Remember we plant seeds so we can reap the harvest when it's time! Let me know below which of these strategies you can put into play today!
