It's time to overcome limiting beliefs about so many things, but today we are going to focus on money! As a former limiting beliefs expert, I used to get sucked into that same story that we’ve always been told.
Have you ever felt like your income has plateaued? You’ve got the teaching degrees and you’ve read the state pay scale at least 100 times. You know how much teachers get paid, and you also know that the only way to make more money is to go back to college and earn another degree? Right? You aren’t wrong. Getting graduate degrees does increase your income, heck I have a Master's and a Specialist degree, but what if I told you that your limiting beliefs are really what’s holding you back? They are limiting beliefs about the world around you and today I’m going to show you how to overcome limiting beliefs one step at a time.
My entire life I always believed that money was a limited resource. That I had “x” amount of money in the bank and once it was gone, it was gone until the next paycheck. Ever felt that way?
Let’s work to overcome those limiting beliefs about money. And live life with an abundance mindset instead. It’s time to take action on these really quick tips that will help you begin to live your life to the fullest and let go of what’s holding you back!
Instead of thinking that money is a limiting resource, begin believing that it is a constantly renewable resource with an infinite supply waiting for you. I mean, money is printed every single day. Who does it belong to? IT belongs to you!
Maybe just thinking that thought seems foreign to you, so here’s how I took baby steps to get over my thoughts about money is a limited resource. First, I learned to practice abundance every single day at any given moment. I’ll be honest, I used to roll my eyes when people said things like abundance, manifesting, and visualizing. I do think these words have been so commercialized at times that they can lose their meaning or become something that sounds evil, but here’s the thing–
Abundance is something everyone should feel in every aspect. I want to challenge you right now to look around you and find things that are abundant in your life. Even if they don’t necessarily belong to you. God does this in amazing ways every day – grass, leaves, trees, raindrops, blue skies, long roads, insects, hair on your head, wrinkles on your skin, words in your vocabulary – all of these things are in such abundance in the world we can’t even fathom how many there are.
That’s true abundance, now what if you could live your life that way? That everything that you’ve ever wanted is more abundant than you ever dreamed? Like your bank account, your happiness, your joy, your experiences – yes, your life? Your bank account may not seem endless at the moment but what if that’s because you’ve put so much stress and anxiety into running out of money. You’ve literally created your own situation each day because we were put on this planet for abundance. You are the only thing that’s stopping you. Your bank account was meant to be as plentiful as the blades of grass you can find in a beautiful field. It’s all out there for the taking.
I used to believe that we are a victim of our circumstance and I had to overcome that limiting belief. That the life we are born into is the life we are destined for. Now, make no mistake – some of us are born with a leg up or an easier chance to succeed in this world than others – I realize that being a white female born into a family of parents with jobs puts me ahead of a lot of people. But I also know that my daddy grew up dirt-poor without heat or air conditioning. That my mama used to only hang our clothes on the line so we wouldn’t use electricity. We all have some story, but the best story of all is that your past does not dictate your future.
Instead, it inspires your progress. I’m sure you can think of countless examples of people in your life that have overcome their past to create an abundant future. So, why not you?
State your desires. Have some faith that it will all work out the ways it is supposed to. Train your mind to acknowledge the good with daily affirmations. Continue learning and growing your brain, your craft, your well-being. Allow your creativity to blossom and flourish. Create systems and processes to help you stay on track. Make a decision even if it turns out not to be the direction you wanted to go and take action. Keep on keeping on. Don’t allow roadblocks to stop your persistent action forward. Surround yourself with a community that uplifts and challenges you to be your best every day!
It’s the teacher way of life. I’m not sure why but somewhere along the way we came up with the idea that teachers are the caregivers of the world so they should give and give and give even if it’s for free. Where else does that make sense? In what other job position do they expect you to give everything you have, and never ask for your worth?
Super small investments are how I went from zero dollars a month to a multi-million dollar company. I invested in myself, my learning, and ultimately – the success of my team. Learning from other people has always been the greatest investment of all time – like Napoleon Hill says in the Power of the Mastermind, surrounding yourself with like-minded people going into this journey is the best thing you can possibly do.
When you think about all of the people in your life that support you and want you to do well, do you have a community of educators who know exactly what you are going through each day? I want that for you.
A community that understands that you should be charging your worth. A community that celebrates the wins with you- big or small. A group of like-minded teachers who know exactly the struggle you are facing in and out of the classroom. I want you to be able to look back in one year from now and say, “I made the decision to surround myself with like-minded people and my journey is just beginning!”
Money is not the root of all evil. How could you serve more? Help more? Give back to your community? Your church? When you focus the efforts of your money on serving and not worldly possessions, it will allow more money to flow your way!

[…] You can make $100,000 a year, even if you're still in the classroom. You've heard me talk about that magic number before. And what if you heard other teachers talk about it too? The sky is the limit for you this year, right now in the present moment, not what you haven't done in the past or what you're going to do in the future. […]
