So – you finally made the leap to start blogging! Go you! I’m so proud!
Next, it’s time to build your blog. Well, if you aren’t an expert at HTML or CODING – which I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say….you’re not! Then you probably need to higher a blog designer. If I might say so myself, my blog designer is amazing. She's so good, I can spot her technique from a mile away. No joke. At the TPT conference I would meet new people and see their button and say – HEY I BET KASSIE DESIGNED YOUR BLOG. You can find her work here.
The key elements to blog design are finding the perfect button to represent who you are. These are important trademarks. People WILL remember your button. I know that sounds stupid, but it seemed to me more people remembered my button than my face. (I am an expert at people face recognition. Hahahaha! Hey, I don't have many talents, but that's one of them. I memorized my entire cluster of 117 students in less than two days. I'd say that's impressive. Sadly, most people will NOT remember your face at all.) It's also important to showcase your style. I think my blog reflects my personality. I love color and beauty, but I'm very simplistic as well. I like to keep things nice and neat and organized, and that's exactly how my blog feels. Another element to blog design is your signature. Just get one! Okay! Think about it at least. In addition, Social Media buttons and Navigation bars are also important.
Next, it’s important that you focus on consistency. Consistency will really take your blog to the next level. I know it's hard – believe me. I am typing this blog post after I've taught for 8 hours, cooked dinner, thought about working out (hahaha!), cleaned the kitchen, bathed kids, read two books, and tucked them in. It's HARD. It's really hard. I don't really know how to tell you to manage it. At times it's awesome, at times it sucks. You need to decide if it's worth the pain, and believe me. It is.
People love FREE STUFF! DUH!
Find a linky party that interest you! I used to think linky parties were so silly. The name makes me giggle! But I realize now, these are a great way to move traffic to your blog and to develop followers. My favorite linky party comes from Doodle Bugs Teaching and it's called 5 for Friday!
Let yourself shine. There's only one you. It's important that we hear your voice. If you'd like to put a face to my blog, please check out my Youtube channel! New videos posted weekly. My latest video correlates with this post perfectly. Love you guys! See you Friday!
