Many of my teacher entrepreneur students come into my world with eyes wide open, but they aren’t all-in in their hearts. They think much like I did: too small. I used to think I just wanted to pay my Netflix bill (you know, $8 a month back when we used to get the DVDs in the mail). But I quickly realized that this online world for teacher entrepreneurs was so much more than that. If I could work hard and fix my mind on what could be, anything could be possible.
Since I began teaching other educators how to do the same, I’ve had about ten students earn their teaching salary in just one year. That’s crazy! My first year, I made $600, so to hear that teacher entrepreneurs have taken the strategies that I mastered over five years and take massive action with them to earn their teaching salary (I’m talking $30,000 – $50,000 a year), I’m confident that you can too. Now, let me get real for just a second. Nobody said it was going to be easy. It won’t be. Only the top 5% of my teacher entrepreneur students see this type of success, but what makes them achieve it is knowing they can and taking massive action. If you’re up for the challenge, then so am I. Here are the five steps you must take to make more money as an online teacher entrepreneur.
Finding what’s needed in the marketplace as easy as running to Target and finding a pack of cute flair pens and tossing them out like candy from a parade float, right? Ha! I wish it was that simple. *Insert eye roll here* when I hear people say, “the market is too saturated” or “you can’t make money on Teachers Pay Teachers like you used to.” Excuses are just that, excuses. They help my students rise to the top of the competition because while some teacher entrepreneurs say those things, my students are actually gaining momentum and making more money.
You see, finding what is needed in the marketplace is the lifeline to earning your teaching salary in less than one year. Yes, it isn’t as easy as it used to be, but the more we research and learn, the easier we find the missing puzzle pieces. If you run headfirst into this thinking that you’ll be able to make a lot of money by using the old sales strategies and tactics, then it’s going to be a rude awakening. Creating Kindergarten centers isn’t something you’ll be able to rank for in the search for YEARS. That specific general topic isn’t impossible, but it is saturated. I like to relate this to diet plans. If you wanted to find a recipe online for Keto or Paleo, you’d find a million different options. But let’s say you just heard about the strawberry mango skinny diet (not a real diet, by the way) and wanted to see the recipes. Chances are you’d only find a few to help you get started because it was new.
It’s the same way with your resources and online teacher business. Creating resources for something that’s been done a million times is not how to earn your teaching salary in less than a year online. Instead, we have to find the gaps and the holes. So in my membership, I teach you how to use search engine optimization to find the gaps where your teacher entrepreneur business can thrive. And I show you how to find what’s needed in the marketplace while still making your heart sing. The best part? It can still be related to Kindergarten Centers, but we have to find out what people are searching for that no one is ranking for yet. At first, this is confusing, but it doesn’t have to be impossible. Our CEO Teacher Master Coaches and I understand the ins and outs of this ever-important part of being a teacher entrepreneur, and we can’t wait to be there for you every single step of the way.
Visualization and meditation are a huge part of my business approach, and it’s time for you to put some time and deep thought into this too. Most teacher entrepreneurs create a vision board. But I mean actually visualizing your dreams and making them come to life through action and meditation. My favorite question to ask my students every week during our coaching calls is, “What do you want?” If you can’t tell me what you want out of life and your teacher business, then I’m going to have a tough time helping you get there, and you’ll have a hard time making it happen.
As an online teacher entrepreneur, you need to create specific and measurable goals for your teacher business. This will enable your business to run like a well-oiled machine while grinding your gears to make this engine work. So, let me ask you again, what do you want out of your teacher business this year? How many students do you want to help? How many teachers? How many products do you want to sell? How much money do you want to make? Write it down and place it on a sticky note on a board that you can look at and recite daily. Fixing your mind on the prize will help us get there together.
Data tracking is the secret buried treasure to most online teacher entrepreneurs’ success. And here’s the vital part about tracking your metrics: you should be tracking REAL data. Fake data is a bunch of numbers that make you feel like you’re doing something wrong or right but have zero impact on your business’s growth or success. Those metrics don’t improve your teacher business at all.
To make more money as a teacher entrepreneur, you should be tracking real data. Real data drives the decision-making process in your business forward and helps you improve your business in specific areas. Instead of tracking followers or likes, use the metrics like reach and click-throughs to understand more of what your customer needs and wants so you can speak to that and serve them in those areas.
How will you turn the information you get from tracking your metrics into insights that will improve your business? Don’t get so fixed on the numbers that you don’t forget to adjust your sails and your plan. Make this real data you’re tracking work for you and turn it into new or improved teacher entrepreneur ideas to make your business more successful.
For example, I recently posted a graphic on Instagram that busted a big myth a lot of teacher entrepreneurs have about Teachers Pay Teachers. I know that it resonated with my people because it got many saves and shares. I now know that I need to make more content on this topic to serve my audience and give them opportunities to learn more about this from me in my membership.
I didn’t make my teaching salary online in less than one year. It took me three years to earn my teaching salary because I had no one to help me as a new or growing teacher entrepreneur. I was googling questions that weren’t even answered yet. I watched thousands of hours of youtube videos and read SEO for dummies. I was trying my best, but it was a slow burn because I didn’t have a mentor or coach to help me.
After several years of hard work, I made more than my teaching salary, and things only went up from there. Now, I’m making seven figures a year, and I want to help you do the same. I lost a lot of sleep in 2018 over figuring out how I can help you replicate my success as I began creating my membership called The Make Your Mark Membership. Now, almost 2,000 teacher entrepreneurs are transforming their life and business through this membership, where I get to go in-depth and share the strategies and tools that changed the game for me through training, weekly coaching, and more.
