One of my favorite influencers and top Beachbody coach Emily Fauver shares how your story can impact the world. Born in California and raised in Oregon Emily then married her high school sweetheart. A military family, they’ve lived all over the place, with their 3-year-old Ella. Ella is an influencer in her own right and has turned her Big Bow Baking Show into a regular debate in our house. Piggies or bunnies. That is the question of the hour. Sister loves her some bunnies! And if you aren't sure what I am talking about head to her IG and take a look.
I asked Emily the hard questions right off the bat. “Do you believe that you are a product of your circumstances OR that no matter the circumstances you can become whoever you want to be?” So we chatted a little bit about what life was like before Emily, she was actually born Lacey. It's so easy to look at social media now and think, well of course she's always been like this. She's always been so happy living her perfect life. But when Emily was born she was actually drug addicted. Her biological parents had a major addiction problem and they went on to have six kids and literally did drugs with every single one. So her personal story is that she tested positive for meth and fetal alcoholism at birth. When Emily was two the neighbors called the cops because they heard she and her sister crying. When the police showed up they realized they had been left home alone. Emily was adopted when she was eight years old and that is when she became Emily, and legally changed her name.
Emily decided at a young age she didn’t want to be another statistic. She was dead set on doing something bigger with her life. She knows she will do whatever it takes to get what she wants in life. She goes after her dreams.
Emily started her side hustle about 9 years ago. And we know that teachers can make money online in a multitude of ways. Teachers are undervalued and underpaid but we want them to find the freedom and income that they deserve. Even though we do not teach Beach Body as an option, it is another amazing way that people can make income. I know that there can be a lot of negative connotations with the MLM style of income, but if a teacher is thinking they need some freedom or flexibility it is an option.
Emily’s degree is in new media communications which is basically journalism. She always wanted to be a reporter but after moving to the tiniest town in Texas, she knew that dream might not pan out. She had done the Insanity Workouts to get in shape for her wedding, and her coach approached her and asked if Emily realized there was a military discount for joining as a coach.
When she realized that her husband's income is set (similar to a teacher’s) she knew it was up to her to make their BIG dreams come true. That's when she decided to really go all in with Beach Body and explore other avenues and streams of income. She knew if she wanted to have the big life that she always dreamed of it was gonna be up to her because the military wasn't going to allow them to grow on the payscale (Sound Familiar?)
Now it didn’t happen overnight. It took Emily 4 years to grow her side hustle to become the top percentage of the company. And that says a lot about her drive
because not all of her days were beautiful and easy. But Emily never had a plan B. She didn’t care if it took eight years. She just promised herself and her coach to never give up. She never said she might quit. Didn’t allow herself to think it either. Because she says, if you can toss those words around then it's going to be easier for you to quit.
She says the journey of online businesses is really exciting to her. When she first married Dillon they thought he was going to be the primary source of income. She remembers the turning point for her was at a Military event and she got introduced as his wife. After listing all of his accolades. She had a moment of thinking. But I want to stand for something too.
Gary V is the reason Emily is on TikTok in the first place. She knew she couldn’t dance but even without the dancing TikTok changed her life. When Emily started nine years ago Instagram was where everyone went for the perfect curated photo. But TikTok has kind of changed that for people. Tik Tok is relatable content, the real-life stuff. And that's what people want to see. Emily’s TikTok has really just gone to a whole nother level. can And that’s really when the influencing and the income really started happening. In just the last year and a half when she has exponentially grown. And she says you never really know when something will take off.
She reminisce it was like thirty minutes before bedtime and she really wanted to make something sweet. And her husband said we have to wait till after she goes to bed. Emily joked I’ll just have Ella do it for me. So she started handing her all the ingredients and she was doing such a great job getting everything into the bowl (at 11 months old) that it kind of just became their thing. And people could relate because Emily lets Ella make a mess and it's no big deal. They used to do it every Sunday as a family thing that they would cook with her. And it was that before bedtime routine that led to brand partnerships and collaborations.
In the beginning, it was literally reaching out to the companies of the products she used. And asking if they could do a partnership or collab of some sort. And she says, do it scared. What is the worst thing that can happen, they say no thank you.
Now she works with a management company (once she reached 3 Million followers she needed help). And they have a lot of credibility. So she tells her manager what dream brands she would like to partner with, and that's when the contract details get started. Basically, how many slides or posts she’ll create about a product, how often she’ll post if they are sending a product ahead of time, all those details.
After all of her growth, Emily decided to start her own brand. It's called Love Lacy and it started as a way for Emily to share her passion for matching outfits with her daughter. She came up with Love Lacy because she feels like the little girl that she was at the beginning of life would be so proud of who she has become.
It’s a reminder to never forget where you came from and that she had to go through some pretty heavy stuff to get to where she is today. Emily says it’s ok to live in this and live in this moment and just be super happy where you are currently. The rest will follow.
