How to Prioritize Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as a CEO Teacher® with Nita Creekmore
Nita Creekmore’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Friends, I am so happy today because not only is my guest going to share what diversity, equity, and inclusion is, she is also going to share WHY diversity, equity, and inclusion in education is soooooooo very, very important. Without further ado, it is my pleasure to introduce Nita Creekmore. Nita is an Instructional Coach who lives just outside Atlanta, GA (hello neighbor!). While originally from Woodbridge, Virginia, Nita taught in grades 1, 2, and 5 for 13 years before becoming an Elementary School Instructional Coach. With a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, underlying Nita’s mission is her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Invite under-represented voices to the table: diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices
Before becoming a speaker on diversity, equity, and inclusion, Nita began Love. Teach. Bless. on Instagram in 2015. Interestingly, it started simply as a fun hobby highlighting the fun things that she did with her first grade class. From there, Love. Teach. Bless. has grown to be a true consulting business where Nita presents, coaches teachers, and collaborates with a variety of educational companies…all while sharing diversity, equity, and inclusion resources. Most of all, Nita believes in holding inclusive spaces. And today, we’re going to talk all about that. In addition, you’ll hear: Nita’s journey through education, how she became an instructional coach, how she found success in her mission-driven business, and how, through her journey, she allowed her passion for inclusivity to create a greater conversation around diversity and equity in all classrooms.
In this episode, you will learn:
Advice on how you can make your business more inclusive and equitable
How to take what you do in education and turn it into a business
Why starting a T-shirt merchandise store, such as her BLESSED & BEARDED TEES, can also be an opportunity to further your mission for diversity, equity, and inclusion
How a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion can begin by inviting under-represented voices to the table
