I wanted to sell everything I owned, retire early, and live in a tiny home. Who knew what God had in store for me. #lookatgod I get to keep everything I own and travel with my family in a camper any and everywhere we want to go. My “dream” doesn’t look like the castle on the hill but it’s a damn fine dream to me. I hope I never forget these moments. Today I was working on some monthly data analysis of my FB ads when I saw these comments... “Gah, I cant even listen to her with that Whitney voice.” “Maybe you should get advanced degrees.” “Uh, she sounds like an MLM.” The old me would have said, 😭”Omg, who is Whitney and does that mean they hate me?” 😭”Do they think I’m stupid!? It must be my accent. I’ve got to fix it and sound smarter.” 😭”MLM? I have worked so hard and they think I’m a Multi-Level Marketing scheme. I have to do better.”😭 But then I remembered the thousands of teachers that need me, so I changed the narrative. 🎤 “Girl, Whitney? Stop it. She’s like the GOAT. Give me the mic.” ✌🏻 I have not one, not two, but three advanced degrees and I love when people assume I’m dumb from my accent. Letssssss go. 🥰 Those chicks who work for MLMs are hustlers and I’m honored to be lumped in that category on a dream I built by myself. And to answer my first question - it does. Good always wins. what do I post? 😬 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After I tucked my boys in bed and poured myself a glass of wine, I'd curl up on the couch with my husband and watch TV. I'd realize that I hadn't posted anything on Instagram in the past couple of days and decide I should. But, when I would try to post something, I'd go blank... What do I write? How do I market myself without sounding salesy or sleazy? What picture should I post? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was a STRUGGLE. And you may feel that too. But, I finally figured out some simple steps to help me be consistent, authentic, and market my business. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The biggest lightbulb moment? My pictures don't have to match the captions! Your pictures don't have to match your captions. Use your pictures to share your real life and be authentic, and use the captions to share value (which includes marketing your products) and to position yourself as a thought leader in your niche. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's been a game-changer, and now I can live my best life in my camper 🚐, on my couch 🛋, or wherever I may be in the moment 😍! let's shake things up a bit 💥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This storm we're all in feels like a big disruption - schools 🏫 are figuring out how to proceed, travel ✈️ plans are being changed, our summers 🏖 are looking different, and, as we prepare for a high season as teacher business owners 👩💻, I'm sure things aren't going to be business as usual there either. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But, what if all of this happened for a reason? 🌈 What if we desperately need some rest? What if our answers have been there all along, they just needed to be shaken out of their slumber? What if life as we know it has been clarified to focus on the important stuff? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love this quote and fully believe that mindset is everything.
