“The starting point of all achievement is desire.” Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich
In this episode you will learn:
What is your big dream, and how badly do you want it? What is the cost of dreaming big? Are you willing to risk it all? Do you even have to? These are questions we’ve all wrestled with, but I’m heading into 2019 with a new insight into how the cost of dreaming big might just be no cost at all! It requires focus, drive, and dedication, but what it doesn’t involve is you giving up everything for your happiness. Instead, happiness is the result of you taking intentional actions. The resultant hustle won’t bring you stress; instead, it will bring you pure joy.
I’m so happy to have you here on this holiday week. Happy holidays, friends, and cheers to my favorite time of year! I love New Years. I always have. I’m a resolutions maker, and I have a great track record of sticking to them. I like to write them down, laying out very specific steps to success. I even like to create vision boards. Watching my dreams come true is extremely gratifying, and this year has been incredible! To hear more about my journey to this point, check out “The Go-Getters Podcast Episode 1: Life of a Go-Getter.”
I get a lot of ideas and inspiration for my resolutions from the books I read. I like to call them my Go-Getter books. I’ve included a link to my Amazon list at the bottom of this blog, but to hear me discuss the books in more detail, listen to the newest episode of “The Go-Getters Podcast Episode 13: The Cost of Dreaming Big,” which you can find at www.kaysemorris.com. The books I mention are ones that have literally changed the way I think about life.
Perhaps my favorite book that I’ve ever read, however, is one I’m diving into right now by Napoleon Hill titled, Think and Grow Rich. The amount of epicness found in this book is truly mind-blowing. I am in awe with every page I read. Every task Hill suggests in the book is something I take seriously. I make it a point to take notes whenever possible. Hill makes me realize that the cost of dreaming big is worth everything. His book will help you to realize it, too. I’ve included Think and Grow Rich on my Go-Getters list linked below, but I’ve also added a link to access an Audible version for free for those who prefer to listen to their books.
I used to think that if I worked too hard, I would miss out on everything life has to offer. Although you can definitely over-hustle and over-work yourself, thinking big dreams can cost you nothing, but reward you with everything. It can bring fire to your life like nothing you’ve ever felt before. We all need a purpose in life – something that motivates us, inspires us, makes life worth living. Too often, we are held back from that by fear. I talk about how I conquered that fear and helped my family, and how you can, too, in “The Go-Getters Podcast Episode 13: The Cost of Dreaming Big.”
In my family, our lives are a beautiful balance. We are still normal, but we believe in hopeful desire – the desire to want more and think more. However, contentment is also something we practice. We are thankful for every single day we are granted, and we feel blessed beyond measure for this life. The cost of dreaming big doesn’t have to cost happiness in your family or you life. Instead, it can cost nothing, but, instead, can bring you true joy.
What will the cost of dreaming big for you be in 2019? Will it allow you to get your family out of debt? Will it mean you get to live the life you love every single day? I hope so!
