It’s so important that we realize phonics worksheets aren’t the best way to entice our students with new concepts and skills. These phonics activities are new, awesome, and even epic! Interactive Phonics Games

First on our list of ending sounds games for elementary students is one of my favorites and easy to use with little prep. We call this game “mining for ending sounds.” Students draw a mining cart from the card stack and match the picture card with the correct ending sound. Have students say the word on the picture card. Game cards like this also appear in the beginning phonics games unit. 

Phonics Games for Kids

Who wants a virtual snack with this online phonics game? Well, technically you're seeing it online but you can purchase this game here. Students fill their lunchboxes with ending phonics sounds to match. This ending sounds game is sure to get their tummies rumbling but in a good way! I am so glad to offer this entire unit in a year-long growing bundle too.

Fun Phonics Game for Ending Sounds

This one is sure to be a hit for ending sounds games! It’s always hot in Georgia and our students love nothing more than a good old-fashioned slip-n-slide. This slippery ending sound phonics game helps students pair splash letters to match the photo’s ending sound. Of course, I like to use Velcro dots to ensure these slippy sounds stick to our game boards. The student draws the picture card and says, “Indian.” Then finds the splash letter to match.

Online Phonics Games

Sea sounds is probably one of my favorite phonics games ever. Students love learning all things about the sea and this is a great opportunity to mix cross-curricular activities. Who has an entire unit on the ocean? Mingle phonics with your science instruction. Each sea sound game card has a photograph. Students will match the ending sound to the photograph. If you’re looking for digraph ending sounds, those will be added to a different phonics game unit.

Kindergarten Ending Sounds Games

This game is a little bit more advanced but just as sweet. Students will have a letter card from a lemonade stand. They will be asked to pair the lemonade letter with the perfect drink, next they will need to find 2 picture cards that have the same ending sound. Please note, not all letters will have 2 picture cards to match their ending sounds.
