Congrats teachers! We’ve made it to April, and I love sharing my favorite April classroom activities.

Since April is full of different calendar activities, I like to make sure I hit on every single one. We kick off our April lesson plans with Earth Day Games and Earth Day Activities. Next, we chat daily about National Poetry Month and different poem ideas. I can’t forget to add in some fun spring lesson plans too, and, last but not least, we round out our month with a unit on landforms and community helpers. In this blog post, we will chat about all of these fun April classroom activities and how to implement these April projects in your classroom.

Earth Day Posters

Bring awareness to your Earth Day lesson plans and Earth Day activities for Kindergarten with these posters. You can send these free posters to a local print company or Michaels and have them printed on extra large paper for you to display or simply laminate these Earth Day ideas and post them in your classroom. I’ve included some of my favorite Earth Day project ideas down below. We get started with an Earth Day poem and move into Earth Day crafts. April Writing

Spring is a great time for our students to show off the writing skills they have learned throughout the year. One way I like to do that is through the use of April Reading Comprehension Passages and Writing. These super easy, low prep books make a great addition to your Earth Day lesson plans. April Sight Word Games

Need a better way to engage your students with meaningful sight word game practice? These monthly sight word games are unlike the ones you’ve used in your classroom for years. Community Helpers

If you can’t manage to get your students on a school bus for a field trip, I encourage you to bring the fun to your classroom. Inviting community helpers from your locality is a wonderful way to chat about different professions with your students as well as have some very special visitors. Adding a Community Helpers unit is a great way to boost up your April lesson plans.

Landforms

Finally, another April classroom activity I look forward to year after year is teaching about landforms. Landforms for kids don’t have to be difficult and boring. The major landforms of the earth can all be found in this Landforms for Kids unit. Information about landforms can be found in vibrant pictures that can be used year after year.
