Classroom Organization Ideas and Tips

Classroom organization ideas are something I have been in love with since I was a little girl. When I was little, I used to pretend my bedroom was a classroom and I was the teacher. I had to organize everything in my classroom so my students could enjoy their learning more. As an adult, my life is no different. Classroom organization ideas are constantly running through my head as I try to make life a bit more manageable. Seriously, when your classroom is organized, you can really start to get a handle on effective classroom management. Your classroom will also be easier to keep clean, which means more learning can take place – I believe this wholeheartedly. Here are some tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years to make your classroom organization a breeze and your teacher life a bit easier.

Recollections Colored Stackables

These boxes are a great way to store and organize things on your desk and are a nice touch for classroom organization. I’ve used these teacher desk organization drawers for years and have really been pleased with how durable they actually are. I created these labels to go with the containers; I print them on Astrobright paper to bring a pop of color to my desk. Sight Word Centers Monthly Storage

Sight word games offer some really remarkable classroom organization ideas plus new  learning strategies. In addition it can add some organizational and storage challenges. However, you can really get a grip on effective classroom management, and enhance learning, through implementing play in your classroom, if you keep your supplies organized. I use these Iris containers to store my monthly sight word games.

Fun story – I bought these thinking they were the small 4” X 6” containers. Michaels was having a sale on all things classroom storage, and I thought, “What better way to improve my classroom management techniques than to be more organized?” So I bought 12 of them; yes, 12 of them. I laughed so hard when the 4 giant boxes arrived at my doorstep. Here I was thinking I was receiving 12 4” X 6” classroom storage boxes, and I opened them to find these “gigantic” ones! (Here’s a pic of me with my goodies.) Needless to say, my husband was not amused, but they actually turned out to be amazing. I put each individual game into a 4” X 6” box, then store all of the smaller boxes into a large box. I can store an entire month’s worth of sight word games in one large box, making organization, storage, and planning simple and efficient. You can also use these for math centers.
